Winter, Winter Go Away....

We are getting rather tired of snow. School was dismissed at 1:00 and even Courtney's school let out early (which rarely happens). We are two hours late tomorrow...it seems like winter just won't go away. Eric and Kelsey took a nap on Sunday and I couldn't resist taking a picture of them.

Courtney is having fun with Skittles in these photos, thankfully he is good natured!

All-Star Game

Every year the local radio station hosts an All-Star basketball game for senior players from the area. There is a girls game and a boys game, 3 point contest and boys slam dunk contest. This year, Eric was chosen to coach the girls B team. He did a great job, but his team lost. I think he misses coaching a little bit...

The girls and I went to the post office this morning and mailed a care package to Jimmer. He requested hard candy and sugarless gum, so we sent him a box full of those items + a bag of Cheetos:) Courtney and Kelsey each painted a picture to include in the package. Courtney also wrote a poem to her Uncle Jimmer, which was very sweet:)

Earlier today Courtney was complaining of a sore throat, when we looked in her mouth, we saw some white spots in the back of her throat and tongue. It may be strep throat, so we will be taking her to the doctor on Monday.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Adopt a Soldier...

One of the Kindergarten classes at Tiospa Zina has adopted Jimmer as their soldier. The teacher's husband is a member of the National Guard and when she heard my brother was in Iraq she asked if the class could "adopt"him. I said that would be wonderful! The students made a flag with their handprints and sent Jimmer a care package. I thought I would share the picture Jimmer e-mailed. We pray for him and all of our brave men and women every day. We look forward to his safe return in November.

Kelsey goes to Kindergarten and Painting Project

Kelsey attended Kindergarten Screening at Courtney's school today. She did a great job and is already to go to school! I spent the morning helping out in Courtney's classroom, then Eric brought Courtney, Hema and myself Subway sandwiches for lunch. When we got home, Eric and the girls painted the dining room. It is a sage color and looks great! Happy Easter everyone:)

Baptism and Palm Sunday

The Hagen Baptisms

Ashley and Katie

The girls showing off the nice Jelly Bean pillows they received from Grandpa and Grandma Martin!

Ready for Church!

We were invited to Grace Lutheran Church last evening for the Baptism of Christian, Ashley, Austin and Kyler. It was a nice service. Then we went to the Hagen's for supper. We met the Poyzer family from Elbow Lake, which are Tiffany's relatives. We visited and talked a lot about Katie's favorite teacher, Mrs. Smith:)

Today, we celebrated Palm Sunday in church. The girls were supposed to sing and Courtney did, but Kelsey didn't. She said she didn't feel like it. Eric and I have Spring Break this week. I'm going to work on my edits for my dissertation, clean my office, volunteer in Courtney's classroom, and attempt to paint the dining room. Eric plans to work on our taxes, clean his office and take down the wallpaper border in our bedroom and Kelsey's bedroom. We'll see how much we can accomplish;) Kelsey has Kindergarten registration on Wednesday! On Friday we are going to Jackson for Easter! Have a good week everyone!

Happy Birthday Uncle Tim!

We'd like to wish our brother, brother-in-law and Uncle Tim a very Happy Birthday today!

Go Redmen!

Courtney designed this t-shirt to cheer on the Lady Redmen at the state tournament. She went to the game on Thursday in Watertown with the Hagen's. The girls took 5th place, we know many of the team members, so it was fun to see them do so well. She'll get the chance to wear it again next weekend as the Sisseton Redmen boys play in the state tournament.

We Love to Read!

We have been celebrating Read Across America at school this week by having dress-up days that coincide with the themes from Dr. Seuss books. Courtney is becoming a very good reader and Kelsey is participating in a Book-It program at pre-school. She is very interested in reading and likes to listen to stories. Courtney is showcasing one of my old favorites, "The Cat in the Hat Came Back." It is literally falling apart, but I love that story:) Kelsey is holding "Silly Sally," which is also a great book!

Courtney has this Thursday and Friday off from school for the Girls State Basketball Tournament. The Sisseton Redmen boys basketball team qualified for state tonight, so she may get a few days off next week as well.

Two More...

Photos From the Weekend

Here are the photos from our weekend at Arrowwood with the Glass family. Kelsey especially liked the snack bar, although she did go down the waterslide by herself towards the end of the day! Warren, Ann and Sarah came over for a visit on Saturday night. We had a great time!

Seth's Cub Scout Derby Race!

Rene sent these pictures of Seth from his Cub Scout Derby Race. She said his car won most entertaining car of the race award. Way to go Seth! We got home around 1:00 today from our weekend at the Arrowwood Resort. We met Jenn, Cullen and family for a fun filled weekend. Needless to say after six hours at the waterpark yesterday, everyone was exhausted:) I'll post the pictures later this afternoon.

Courtney has this Thursday and Friday off from school as the Sisseton Redmen girls basketball team make it to state. The Redmen boys team beat the Wambdi on Tuesday night and also have a chance at making it to state. She will probably spend the two days with Kyler at his house or Kelsey's pre-school. Have a great week!
