Snow Day #2

We can't wait for summer!!
From our front porch...

Stars on Ice!!

From our backyard-notice the swing under the snow?!

Yes, that is correct, we've had 2 snow days!! The girls haven't had school either, so we've had tea parties, crafts, gymnastics, dancing, playing piano and reading to keep us occupied. Today, Eric took Kelsey to the school for basketball practice. We are all getting rather tired of winter!!

Eric has a 7th and 8th grade basketball tournament in Milbank tomorrow and the girls do not have ice skating lessons, so it will be a nice quiet weekend. Stay warm everyone:)

Courtney's Story and Skittles....

Skittles....
Courtney with a few pages from her book...

Courtney's school is sponsoring a young writers contest. She decided to write about her Auntie Laurie and the book turned out to be very cute. She is a very good artist so the pictures are great. There is a possibility of sending her book in for submission to the National Reading Rainbow Contest. Here is the text of her story....

"My Auntie Laurie is the best, most creative woman I have ever known. She is great with kids like me. She's so kind and she doesn't just want you to watch TV all day. When I was at her house one time, we got a piece of paper and wrote down all the stuff that me and my little sister Kelsey wanted to do. It was as much fun as I dreamed it would be. My Auntie Laurie has just wonderful talent and I will tell you them all. She likes to make art projects which are just beautiful and she likes cooking every meal. We eat it all. Oh, and guess what...she's a teacher too! There was someone from her class that came to my friend's house and she told me that my Auntie Laurie was the funnest person that she ever met because she put their work into fun." I wish you could see the illustrations there is a lot of detail in her drawings.

The other photo shows our cat Skittles taking a snooze on my laptop (this would make a great topic for a story)! We haven't been letting him go outside as much as he'd like...we've been hearing a few coyotes near our house and want to keep him safe.

We hope you are all having a good week.

Stars On Ice!

Smile!!
Sasha Cohen

Jennifer Robinson-six time Champion from Canada and Courtney's favorite skater

A Group Performance by the Women

My girls and I watching the skaters practice

We ventured to Watertown early Sunday morning (6:00 am) with our friends the Hagen's to get on the charter bus to St. Paul for Smuckers Stars on Ice! The skate club was able to sit right on center ice and watch the skaters warm-up. Then, we watched the performance from figure skating stars such as Olympic Silver Medalist Sasha Cohen, World Champion Todd Eldredge, and Olympic Gold Medalist Ilia Kulik. The show lasted 2.5 hours and was awesome to watch:) We are a little tired today, but it was well worth it!!

The Snowy Day...

It started snowing at about 11:00 this morning. It was still snowing after school, so Kelsey decided to help her dad shovel the driveway. Yesterday, the girls and I went to the boys basketball game in Rosholt. Eric is coaching the 7th and 8th grade team for the rest of the season, as the former coach unexpectantly quit. He seemed to really enjoy it, which makes me wonder if he'll want to return to coaching next year?!
The girls have ice skating lessons in Watertown tomorrow. On Sunday, we are riding with the ice skating club to "Stars on Ice," in Minneapolis. The girls are pretty excited about going, but it will be a long trip. I will take pictures and post them when we get home.
Have a great weekend!

American Idol or The Biggest Loser?

My very first run:)

I apologize for not being a very good blogger lately. We had a very busy day as Kelsey was invited to birthday party after school and Courtney had piano and dance lessons. Tonight we are attempting to watch

The Biggest Loser and American Idol. It would be nice to have a DVR, but we don't have one right now, so we'll just switch back and forth. It's amazing how much weight people can lose on the show and it's fun to watch. Eric and I are doing a fitness challenge and motivating each other to work out 5 days a week early in the morning. My goal is to run a 10K this summer and it would be fun to do it together. So, my question is....which show do you like better The Biggest Loser or American Idol?

Dancing with the Stars?

Courtney and Kelsey had a sleepover at Hema and Sahali's house last evening. Then after church today, Hema and Sahali came over to our house to play. Courtney and Hema put together a dance routine, while Kelsey and Sahali played dress-up. I took the girls to ice skating lessons yesterday and then skated with them during family skate time. Kelsey is improving and will be moving up to the next level on Saturday. Have a good week everyone;)

It's a Boy....

My best friend, Jenny (Rowe) Glass had a baby boy yesterday. Baby Nico weighed a little over 7 pounds and is 21.5 inches long. We are so happy for the Glass family and can't wait to meet their new addition:)
