We just returned home from our trip to Colorado. Rene and Richard had a great wedding and it was nice to see everyone! The weather cooperated and the reception was a lot of fun. We left Wheat Ridge at 6:00 this morning and got home at 9:00 this evening. The girls start their summer activities tomorrow, so it will be a busy week.

Memorial Day 2009

I had the honor and priviledge to meet Senator John McCain on Memorial Day at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. He is a true American hero and very nice man. His family was recognized at the Diamondbacks game. My friends and I were seated a few sections away from him and ushers were kind enough to let us go down and meet him during the seventh inning stretch.

Busy Week

May....
August......

It has been a busy week for the Heath family. Eric and I finished our last day of school with kids on Wednesday. Courtney and Kelsey will be done tomorrow at 1:30. The girls had their awards days on Wednesday. Courtney received reading, spelling, math, and a citizenship award for good behavior. Kelsey received a reading and math award. She was given a photo CD from her teacher-it's fun to see how much she has grown up this year. We are very proud of both of them! I attended the Kindergarten field trip today with Kelsey's class. We went to the Wahpeton Zoo and had a fun day. After school I took the girls to the Nicollett Tower and we climbed to the top 3 times!!! It was a gorgeous day!! Tomorrow is graduation and Saturday I fly out to Phoenix. Eric and the girls are leaving next Tuesday for Denver and I will be flying out to meet them next Friday for Rene and Richard's wedding.

Graduation 2009

Yes, it is that time of year.....graduation receptions and parties to attend. We're invited to 13 graduation parties this year!! I attended a reception yesterday for two of my former students, Nico and Rett. They are brothers that graduated from Roslyn. I had Nico as a Kindergarten and first grade student and we share the same birthday. Rett was in my first grade class as well. Nico is planning to attend Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls and Rett is leaving for basic training on June 2nd. It is hard to believe that some of the Kindergarten students I had my first year of teaching are now graduating!!

Today, we are going to Britton to celebrate RJ's graduation. Then, Friday is TZ's ceremony in which Eric has been chosen to give the commencement address! Next Sunday is graduation for Sisseton High School. It will be a busy week!!

Piano Recital

Tonight was Courtney's first piano recital. Her piano teacher is my co-worker and she used the props from Tiospa Zina's prom to showcase the 1950's rock and roll era. Grandma Cheryl made Courtney's poodle skirt for the occasion. The recital was held at our church. Courtney did a wonderful job, one of the songs she played she wrote herself. She received a lot of positive comments on her performance. We are very proud of her. Eric and I have 1.5 days of school left and the girls are done next Friday. It is hard to believe another school year has gone by......

Dance Recital

The girls did a fantastic job at the dance recital last night! It was fun to watch them perform. We are having a Mother's Day brunch with my mom, dad and brother today. Happy Mother's Day!!

The girls had their dress rehearsal for Friday's dance recital after school today. They also had their Spring music concert this evening. Courtney and her friends, Kyler, and Hema choreographed and performed a routine to the song "Lean on Me," which was fun to watch. We are looking forward to having Grandpa and Grandma Smith visit for the weekend to attend the dance recital on Friday night. Have a great week everyone!!
